Does the organizations routinely make sure LGBTQI are represented on advisory bodies and review groups? Does the organization ask the same of grantees? The second resource for LGBTQI expertise is local community leadership. Are LGBTQI staff valued? Have the institution formed an internal advisory group to assist with agency engagement?Ģ: Include LGBTQI community members in policy planning steps.

This expansion will replace the outdated facilities at the Max Robinson Center and the Youth Services site. Once fully operational, this expansion will provide vital services and programs to more than 15,000 persons each year-a 200% increase from Whitman-Walker’s current capacity of 5,000 individuals at the existing Max Robinson Center and Youth Services site. The new, six-story building will consolidate and expand our operations from the Max Robinson Center in Anacostia and our Youth Services location on Capitol Hill - and provide additional programming space for our growing research and education initiatives.

On July 15, 2021, Whitman-Walker and partners including Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Redbrick LMD and Perkins + Will DC, broke ground on St. Elizabeths East Campus! Our hope is that this expansion will significantly improve access to care for DC residents who live east of the Anacostia River as we focus on persistent health disparities and service delivery inequities in Ward 8. Expected in 2023, Whitman-Walker will open a 118,000 square foot health care facility at the St. Whitman-Walker is embarking on a transformative health care expansion in Ward 8, steps from the Congress Heights Metro Station.
